If my iPhone is lost or damaged, how can I recover my ledger?
MellowLedger offers two layers of protection. If you previously enabled Automatic iCloud Backup and a backup was completed, sign in to the same Apple Account on the new iPhone and restore a MellowLedger iCloud backup from the app. You can also import a full transfer backup that you previously exported to a computer, external drive, iCloud Drive, or another storage provider. On-device restore points alone cannot be retrieved from a lost or damaged phone, so keep an independent transfer backup.
How does multi-currency conversion work when I am offline?
MellowLedger does not call a live exchange-rate service. You set reference rates locally, so conversion works offline. Transactions retain their original amounts and currencies. Some account impacts and historical totals use current manual reference rates: changing those rates or the primary display currency may change these conversions. Not every transaction’s conversion rate is locked.
Why does MellowLedger avoid Plaid and other bank-connection services?
MellowLedger is local-first and never asks for a bank password or permission to pull a complete bank feed. You enter records yourself or import only the files you choose, with review before saving. This reduces the amount of financial data exposed to another service; you should still protect your iPhone, Apple Account, and any backup files you export.
What is the difference between Annual and Lifetime, and how do refunds work?
The Annual plan is intended to renew each year and eligible new subscribers can receive a 14-day free trial. The U.S. target is $9.99 per year—about $0.83 per month. Lifetime is a one-time purchase with a U.S. target of $29.99 for permanent access to the app and future updates. Apple shows your actual local price and eligibility before confirmation, processes every purchase, and decides refund requests under its policies; a refund is not guaranteed.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
Core ledger features work offline without a MellowLedger account. App Store purchases and purchase restoration, and optional iCloud backup and recovery, use your Apple Account and require an internet connection.
Where is my financial data stored?
Your ledger, receipt images, and on-device restore points are stored on your iPhone. Optional iCloud backups are stored in your Apple iCloud, and exported backups are stored wherever you choose. The developer does not receive your ledger.
How do I move my ledger to a new iPhone?
Open Settings → Data Management and export a full transfer backup. Save that file somewhere you control, then import it from the same area on the new device. Keep the file until you confirm the restored ledger is complete.
Why is voice entry unavailable on my device?
Voice entry uses on-device recognition only. If iOS does not support local recognition for the selected language, MellowLedger shows an error instead of sending audio online.
Can MellowLedger connect to my bank or brokerage?
No. MellowLedger does not connect to financial institutions, move money, or retrieve live balances, prices, transactions, or exchange rates.
Does installment planning change or pay a real loan?
No. Installments are editable personal records and local estimates. MellowLedger does not apply for, underwrite, service, or pay a loan. The schedule includes principal and optional fixed interest only; use your contract and lender statement as the authoritative record.
What should I include in a bug report?
Tell us what you were trying to do, what happened, what you expected, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the MellowLedger version shown in Settings. Do not include screenshots or text that exposes sensitive amounts or names.
